Quiz and Meditation Information
HOW STRESSED IS MY PET QUIZ?

I encourage you to take this quiz and see what is going on with your pet’s stress levels. As I said, this quiz is meant mostly for dogs, but to adapt it to cats all you need to do is omit the questions which are clearly dog related.

This is a quiz that was originally published by Animal Wellness Magazine. With every question, rate your pet on a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being poor, and 5 being excellent.

How true about your pet are the following statements:
Is relaxed with all noises or sounds?
Is at ease around all men
Is calm around babies
never jumps on people
loves attention form strangers if you are present
is comfortable being touched all over
is relaxed around other dogs
is unperturbed by delivery people
is happy being left with someone he or she knows
is comfortable being left with a stranger
will eat no matter what is going on
is calm in crowd of people
will allow anyone to approach you and remains friendly
never displays belly when people approach
allows hugs from strangers
never begs or barks for attention
is able to sleep while you are away from home
rarely shows signs of stress, like excess panting, yawning, sniffing, shaking, etc.
never growls or shows teeth to strangers
has never submissively urinated
never looks frightened when leaving the home
never hides behind you in public
never chews or lick himself excessively
does not tuck his tail when outside of the house

To score the quiz, see which was your most frequent answer:

If you answered mostly 1’s and 2’s your pet definitely needs a stress reduction program
If you answered 2 and 3 he or she could use some behavior modification in troubled areas
If you answered 3 and 4, your pet is not too bad, but there is room for improvement
And if you answered mostly 4 and 5, you’re doing a great job, you animal is relaxed

HOW TO MEDITATE WITH YOUR PET

This meditation goes a step further than other meditations that you may have encountered, and actually includes your pet in the meditation process. I developed this technique through many years of study and research. This is a meditation in which you will connect more deeply with your pet with the help of visualization and relaxation techniques. Through this deep connection, you will telepathically communicate messages of wellbeing and love to your pet. These messages will induce in your pet the state of deep relaxation and peace, in which the body’s own healing mechanisms can function most effectively. Your pet will thus benefit from meditation as much as you will.

After doing the meditation together with your animal, you will immediately notice profound and lasting changes in the temperament and disposition of your pet. Behavioral problems might disappear, your pet might do what you would like it to do without your having to ask for it…. Try it and experience the miraculous changes which result from developing a deeper, more conscious connection with your pet.

For many of you, meditation may not be something you do everyday, so I’d like to suggest a simple, three minute mini mediation for beginners to open your heart and to reconnect with your pet in a deeply profound way. The intention is to create a high quality heart focus in a short period of time. Taking you beyond boundaries of your conditioning, this meditation reveals new forms of energy. I am very excited to share this mediation with you!

This meditation is designed to reenergize your connection with your animal, and with your Higher Power. It increases both yours and your animal’s wellbeing by bringing you both closer to the Source of unconditional love.

Practice it together for a week or so and watch the miraculous changes unfold. I would love to hear from you about how much your pets enjoyed the meditation and how your pets have changed as a result of it. You can send your progress report emails to info@psychicvet.com.

I look forward to hearing from you!

MEDITATION

Settle down with your animal in a peaceful place. (For beginners, it is best to try this short meditation with just one pet. In time, as you become a “natural” at this meditation, you can include all your four legged friends, if you have more than one.)
You may want to pet your animal gently to help him or her relax and settle down. My dogs like cuddling with me, they love to be in my lap while I meditate. Other animals may prefer to just hang out next to you, and that’s fine, too.
Separate from any possible interruptions, - phone, TV, people. Get comfortable. You can imagine yourself lying on the beach, absorbing the sun’s warm rays. Or imagine being in a cozy bed, surrounded by fluffy pillows and comforters. Get very quiet. Focus on your breath, which is your conscious union with God. Inhale deeply, hold, and exhale. Follow your breath and allow it to bring your back to center….
Relax your body, starting at the toes, moving along through your feet, ankles, your calves, and knees. Feel the relaxing energy embracing each part of your body and melting away all tension and stress. Feel it progressing up to the thighs and hips, your abdomen, chest. Feel it filling your shoulders and arms, traveling down to the palms of your hand and fingers. And then feel it ascending up your neck, relaxing your facial muscles, your cheeks, your forehead, and your scalp.
Now gently rest your palm over your heart chakra. In your minds eye, see the image of your beloved pet, concentrate on that image. Feel the love that fills you every time you cuddle with your animal, every time you look at him or her. By connecting to this unconditional love you are connecting to your Higher Power, your Source.
If thoughts come, let them come, and then allow them to gently drift away.
Visualize thoughts as clouds drifting in the sky. Try to detach from them, just let them float by as they pass in and out of your awareness. Keep focusing on your breath to center yourself.
As you focus on the image of your animal, observe the sensations in your heart, dramatic or subtle. It can be a sense of bliss, expansion, or compassion. Let it happen. Let it flow out of your heart and fill your entire body. And then, in your mind’s eye, see it reaching out to your animal’s heart, filling it with love, and flowing throughout his or her entire body.
When you feel complete, gently bring yourself back, become aware of your body, of your surroundings. And when you’re ready, open your eyes and enjoy the delicious feeling of relaxation and well-being.
