Star Xcel
StarXcel brings on Kritical from Australia for a preview of the talent StarXcel will be introducing from around the world. This rapidly emerging Melbourne based rnb/electro artist, brings reality straight to your face like no other rnb artist before him. Terence Vivien aka Kritical combines explosive melodic tones over pulsating production with an urban edge. The basis of Kriticals main focus is subject matter, everyday reality and struggle as opposed to simply heartache and relationships. His voice and style is undeniably distinguishable and unique due to his crooning low tones and falsetto range which switches seamlessly. Kriticals sound is that of the honest, gritty, yearning, vulnerable and beautiful. Yet it didnt come easy without lifes distractions. It began after years of living miserable in the suburbs. Growing up in the South-East had been interesting to the say the least. - Kritical Born in England originally and brought to Australia by his Mauritian parents.
More music on StarXcel where Jeff practices queing the tracks for our cohosts and artists in our special behind the scenes live broadcasts on the making of StarXcel, where our audience looks over our shoulders as we put together our International Talent Showcase live over the Internet. Kritical joins us on this segment as well, and he and Dominique talk about themselves, their music, and the scene down under. Jeff proposes a future musical collaboration between the two!
GROM features his drumming expertise and creative talent on Requiem from the John Paul band. GROM is StarXcels musicologistour international expert on musical styles and content. Jeff plays Kriticals Untouchable that we heard in the first segment, and GROM nails it on the head with his Prince analogy (hope Kritical agreedhe is much too polite to have raised any objection). Jeff then ques up Dominiques Only You. Jeff thought it was the 40s standard resurrected by the Platters in the 50s and Harry Connick Jr. in the 90s (as well as countless untold renditions by countless untold artists)-----but it isnt, and GROM nails it as fun club music and more.
More about the vision of StarXcel, the International Talent Showcase launching on ws.RadioLA.com in July. Jeff also mentions new co-hosts and cities around the world that will be joining us shortly, including Paul Massie from Glasgow Scotland, Miami, San Francisco, New York City, Nashville, and Chicago.
