About The Host:
"Cynthia Dillon joined Republicans Abroad in Washington D.C. as Executive Director in June 2007. Cynthia’s volunteer work in Spain for the organization included being Country Chairman during the 2004 elections. In 2005, RA-Spain organized the Regional Meeting and invited former Maryland Lt. Governor and GOPAC Chairman Michael Steele.
Cynthia’s international career and background is in the field of design, and began in 1980 while working alongside one of Tiffany & Co.’s designers, Elsa Peretti. In 1983 she became president of Ms. Peretti’s company in New York. In 1989, under contract with a Japanese company, Cynthia Dillon designed and sculpted several collections (1,000 pieces) as finished metal models in Sterling Silver, 18Kt. Gold, and pave diamonds. Cynthia's other skills include writing and editing. As a volunteer and Director of the Navy League Madrid Council she created, edited and published the 2005 Navy League Magazine. (An example of her jewelry designs can be seen in the ad that appears in the magazine). With her vast experience in high end advertising in print and the internet, she has designed and developed several websites, (including www.republicansabroad.org), created and developed the 2008 and 2010 advertising campaign for Republicans Abroad Voting League which appeared in The Herald Tribune, (Print and Internet),Stars & Stripes, The National Post (Canada) and Drudge.
Cynthia was born in New York and spent part of her childhood in Buenos Aires and Tokyo. A graduate of Marymount College, Tarrytown, New York in 1978 she lived and worked for many years in New York City and Madrid. Fluent in English and Spanish, Italian and French."

Foreign Policy. The World and Nelson Mandela. Ambassador John Price
Ambassador John Price is former US Ambassador to the Republics of Mauritius and Seychelles, and the Union of Comoros from 2002-2005. He currently serves as Resident Scholar at the University of Utah’s Hinckley Institute of Politics. As a friend of the African continent for years, Ambassador Price explains why Nelson Mandela, described by many as a former “revolutionary, philanthropist and politician” (who died at the age of 95 on December 5th), is a “Giant, who is gone, but his legacy lives on…” Ambassador Price recounts his travels through Africa since the 1970’s and comments having witnessed( when he attended a business convention in Johannesburg in 1984) the treatment of Blacks and the nefarious tentacles of Apartheid. He mentions visiting Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 18 years (out of a total of 27). For the Ambassador, the label of being a “revolutionary” to many, may be a “liberator” to others… He speaks of the time, as Ambassador, when he met Louis Mnugin, South African representative in Mauritius and who had spent 5 years imprisoned with Mandela in Robben Island….Ambassador Price speaks of the suffering of Africans during colonial times and the inherent corruption of the post-colonial governments….Ambassador Price comments on President Obama’s eulogy and points to the fact that the President has “not spent much time in Africa.” For him, education is the key for a prosperous Africa , and building schools, and not the military is the answer.

Ambassador Price comments on the controversial handshake between President Obama and Raul Castro, brother of the infamous despot, tyrant, revolutionary and assassin Fidel…, but calls attention to the current suffering and isolation of the people of Cuba, 50 years after the revolution. For him, “the times have changed” and he sees the handshaking “as an opportunity for further engagement…” Ambassador Price comments on the President’s recent “disapproval” polls and notes the missed opportunities (encouraging people to get motivated, speaking against the prevalent crimes (knockout games?),and the destruction of the family structure,…) and the enormous problems facing the nation… Obamacare, Immigration Reform etc.

Edward Patrick Flaherty , international attorney based in Geneva, speaks of the repercussions of the FATCA (Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act) taking effect in July, 2014, “requiring international financial institutions to provide the IRS with information on US citizens who hold $50,000 or more in their accounts.” Mr. Flaherty speaks of the resolution presented by Solomon Yue, Vice Chair and CEO of Republicans Overseas, (and National Committeeman at the RNC for the State of Oregon) will be presented at the RNC Winter Meeting in January 2014 and the Bill (S. ) presented by Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY). Mr. Flaherty gives examples of American companies that do not hire Americans anymore; Americans renouncing their citizenship because of the “draconian sanctions and penalties,” originally intended for tax cheats have become the norm, another example of “overreaching by the US government…” Recalling… “1984″ as the Orwellian metaphor for 2013…., Mr. Flaherty comments on the latest maneuvers by the NSA…Mr. Flaherty also speaks on the figure of Nelson Mandela and his personal experiences in South Africa and noting that what set the African leader apart from other leaders was his humility and lack of “ego”…

Gardiner, Stephen Thompson.
Dr. Stephen Thompson, “educated at Cambridge, the London School of Economics, and the University of
California, is an editor, writer and consultant in Washington DC. He has lived in Cambridge and London
during most of Thatcher’s time as prime minister, and experienced firsthand how she changed British
history, becoming a lifelong Thatcherite…” He has co-written, with Nile Gardiner the recently published
book by Regnery: “Margaret Thatcher on Leadership: Lessons for American Conservatives today.”
Dr. Thompson explains the “structure of the book…, on her, as a leader,” and “how she overcame
[the difficulties and obstacles] in her rise to become a Leader…” For Dr. Thompson, the youth today,
who will be “inheriting a fiscal mess, are going to be the ones following her life…”, for she was just
“a small town girl, whose Father was a successful grocer and Methodist Preacher who became the
mayor of their hometown (Grantham, 1945-46) ” exposing her to “religion, business and politics in her
community.” She attended Oxford University and obtained a degree in Chemistry; was a member of
the Oxford Conservative Association… Who and what influenced her life? WWII and the times…, “the
beginning of the end of the British Empire, and her country’s eventual turn to Socialism…in the 60’s
and 70’s…” Comparing Britain’s trajectory towards socialism and economic disaster in the 70’s with the
last few years in the US, Dr. Thompson speaks of Obamacare and how it will “fall upon the shoulders
of conservatives” to correct the wrongs… “ In the 1970’s the British stopped believing in their own
country…” [they thought there was] “no way out”….but she came along and persuaded them to carry
on…, that the “British character is not socialist!”
Book Review. Margaret Thatcher on Leadership: Lessons for American Conservatives today - by Nile
Gardiner, Stephen Thompson.
Dr. Thompson speaks of the British “Winter of Discontent,” in 1979, when the country was plagued by
Union strikes, shutdowns and misery and…, Mrs. Thatcher became Prime Minister. Dr. Thompson also
recounts his time working at the Republican National Committee when former Governor Haley Barbour
was Chairman and what he called the “golden age,” for the Republicans, the time of the “Contract with
America…” For Dr. Thompson, 2014 is an important year, similar to 1979 and predicts a “conservative
Republicans Overseas.Republicans abroad: their vote and their participation.
Solomon Yue. Vice Chairman and CEO.
Solomon Yue is Vice Chairman and CEO of the newly created political organization, Republicans
Overseas, “with chapters throughout the world and headquarters in the US, [founded] to facilitate the
involvement of republican citizens overseas in the political process of the United States…” As such, “it
will also voice the concerns of Republican citizens overseas in the public policy debates, in the United
State, consistent with Republican principles…” Mr. Yue is also National Committeeman for the State
of Oregon at the Republican National Committee, and…”currently Vice Chairman of the Committee on
Presidential Debates and co-founder of the RNC Conservative Steering Committee and the Republican
Conservative Caucus.” He is also a very successful businessman. Mr. Yue explains that the organization
was created… to capture the votes for Republicans from the 7.6 millions Americans living overseas. Mr.
Yue comments on the organization, Republicans Abroad (HQ closed on January 31st
the fact that “it was never a political machine,” and although involved in voter registration, it lacked the
structure and manpower. Mr. Yue explains that the RA chapters “were not equipped as State Chapters,
but rather, depended on a one-person-operation to do all things…” The goal of RO is to revitalize the
Republican efforts abroad and bring home the votes!! Mr. Yue also speaks of FATCA, (Foreign Account
The Navigator Sting - Project Veritas. Making a Difference. Lawrence “Billy” Jones II
Lawrence “Billy” Jones III, a twenty year old African American conservative activist from Garland, TX
went undercover for Project Veritas and exposed the Obamacare Navigators in Texas who were
encouraging applicants to commit “fraud…” As a young and unafraid conservative activist, Mr. Jones
confronts the Left head-on, exposing the fact that they use “emotions to appeal to African Americans
and minorities…”and “the only way to fight the Left is with FACTS…”

Mr. Norquist who left his Meeting to speak with RARadio on the most important issues of the moment. “Tactics, goals and moving forward to capture the Senate in 2014/16 and the WH in 2016…” Mr. Norquist notes the various States that are in play and the Republican “win” possibilities, considering the recent debut of Obamacare and its spectacular debacle….

Unions in Wisconsin. Card-check Elections. F. Vincent Vernuccio
F. Vincent Vernuccio is Director of Labor Policy at the Mackinac Center of Public Policy with HQ in Michigan. Mr. Vernuccio served under President G W Bush as Special Assistant Secretary for the Administration and Management in the Department of Labor. A regular guest on Fox News…he’s been described as the “top Union watchdog…”
Mr. Vernuccio speaks about the problems with Unions enforcing card-check elections, in a state like Wisconsin, that is not “right to work.” He points to the recent “special exemption granted by the Administration to a new off-site Indian Casino by the Obama Administration and that would take jobs away from non-Unionized casinos…”
Green Energy scams. Cape Wind Project . Marita Noon
Marita Noon is the ED for the organization Energy Makes America Great, Inc., the advocacy arm of Citizens Alliance for Responsible Energy (CARE). A columnist and spokesperson, she has written her 20th book, Energy and Freedom. Ms. Noon has been exposing, together with Christine Lakatos, the Administration’s “green energy-crony-corruption scandals.”
Ms. Noon speaks of the Cape Wind Project as an example. According to Ms. Noon, “since the President committed in 2009, $100Billion for energy projects, at least 50 have gone bankrupt.” And the Cape Wind $2Billion, 130 turbines-Project, off Nantucket, in Massachussetts, “is illustrative of the whole issue of crony corruption.” Even the NYTimes, has been critical of the wind and solar energy projects, pointing to need for taxpayer subsidies…For Ms. Noon the Keystone Pipeline is another example of this Administration “awarding friends and punishing opponents.”
The Debt Ceiling. #Shutdown. Ray Lehman
Ray Lehman is Senior Fellow, Public Affairs Director and Co-Founder of the R Street Institute, a free market and libertarian think tank. Mr. Lehman speaks of the [impending]agreement between Congress and the Administration on the debt ceiling providing background information…that, for example, we have been “running deficits since WWII” and that “we actually reached the statutory debt ceiling last New year’s Eve at $16.4Trillion…and that Treasury took extraordinary measures to extend the headroom…”
To get $29Billion of headroom, the treasury Dept. announced last February, the suspension of additional investments to the Civil Service Retirement and Disability Fund and the Postal Retiree Health Benefit fund…” Mr. Lehman explains what could happen if the October 17 deadline is not met, and what happens if we move in the direction of “default,” noting the “areas with the most devastating impact… as the $4Trillion Repo Market…, the so-called shadow banking industries.”
Government intervention and The Senate Deal . Ray Lehman
Ray Lehman concludes the interview by explaining the risks of quantitative easing: the more money supply to buy treasury bonds and securities to increase liquidity and lending can also lead to inflation and higher prices… “ And…despite widespread speculation that the Federal Reserve would tone down its quantitative easing program (QE3),.. it will continue its monthly USD $85 billion bond-buying program as it downgraded its outlook for economic growth…”
Mr. Lehman concludes the interview by commenting on the McConnell-Reid Agreement on the debt ceiling and what other very important issues his organization will tackle…the FARM BILL (big subsidies for corporations) and the Food Stamp portion in the Bill…, plus the Internet Sales tax ….etc.
