You know running a business isn't easy, especially when navigating the complex waters of human resources. State and federal employment laws and regulations, compensation and overtime, harassment, family and medical leave...the list goes on and on. With more than 25 years of professional experience, Frank Cania of Driven HR, formerly Cania HR, brings a unique business perspective to every client engagement. His consulting service has joined forces with benefits specialists to offer a wider range of products to customers, many of them small and mid-sized companies looking to contract out their HR department. Cania says an important part of the HR puzzle for all businesses, The Company Handbook, something he and a business lawyer help his customers bring to life.

SONNENBERG GARDENS AND MANSION
DAVE HUTCHINGS AND DEB KELLY

Built in 1887, the 40-room mansion at Sonnenberg Gardens and Mansion in Canandaigua outside Rochester NY, offers visitors a glimpse of what life was like in the late 19th Century. Along with 17 other structures across the 50-acre property, the estate boasts nine formal gardens representing many cultures and historic periods including 12th-Century Asia, 4th-Century Rome and the French Renaissance. Sonnenberg is currently owned by the New York State Office of Parks and Historic Preservation but receives no state funding. It is operated by the non-profit organization, Sonnenberg Gardens and Mansion. That is why it is The CEO Hour's Not for Profit Focus for November. Sonnenberg funding comes solely through admissions; seasonal retail sales; memberships, private donations and grants and public and private special events. The Sonnenberg staff and corps of hundreds of volunteers are hard at work to solidify Sonnenberg's place as one of the premiere display gardens and estates in the United States, and a gem in the NYS Parks system.
