About the Host:
MAJ (Ret.) Mike Lyons has been a CBS news military analyst since February of 2003 for both television and radio audiences. The CBS Radio Network provides premier hourly newscasts to more than 1500 news and news/talk formatted stations throughout the United States. He has covered a wide spectrum of military events for the CBS Radio and Television network, including all related combat operations in Iraq, the events at the Abu Ghraib prison, the battle against the Taliban in Afghanistan, and associated military topics about solders on the home front. He was featured in an edition of Business Week magazine along with other military analysts for his unique "soldiers eye perspective" of the war in Iraq. Mike served with various military organizations in both the United States and Europe throughout his career. He commanded Alpha Battery, 3 rd Battalion, 17th Field Artillery, VII US Corps during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm and was awarded The Bronze Star for his actions in combat. Mike has also served as the Aide-de-Camp to a General Officer in the NATO command.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point, and a Masters of Business Administration from the Stern School of Business, New York University. He also provides analysis for the CBS news television program "Up to the Minute", is often featured on the award winning Charles Osgood File and the CBS World News Round-Up, and appears on the local CBS affiliate television station in New York, WCBS-TV.
