Josh Anon (Moraga, CA) has been a nature photographer for 10 years, starting before entering high school in Fairview , PA.
However, his interest in photography started when he received his first Kodak 110 camera at the ripe old age of 4.
Camera in hand, he received a BS in computer science from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL.
After graduating, Josh started working at Pixar Animation Studios in Emeryville, California. There, he has worked on Finding Nemo (uncredited), The Incredibles, Cars, and Ratatouille. His roles have ranged from being a layout technical director (cinematographer) to render optimization, Linux and Mac software development, and model optimization.
His photographic work, which has appeared in a variety of publications. Recently, he was a semi-finalist in the prestigious BBC/Shell Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition and earned an honorable mention in the EPI photography contest.
He has traveled the globe searching for the next great picture, be it 100 feet deep on the Great Barrier reef or on Chicago's Michigan Avenue.
On the weekends, Josh teaches photography and leads workshops. He is also a co-author of Aperture Exposed (Anon and Anon, Sybex 2006).
Josh also writes software for Lightbox Software (www.lightboxsoftware.com), including Lightbox, one of the first professional-quality image management programs for Mac OS X. More recently, he authored Aperture2iLife which allows Aperture users to quickly access their Aperture projects in iLife.
When not shooting, making cartoons, or coding, Josh can be found out on his road bike, playing the violin, skiing, and kiteboarding.
