BetterPhoto Instructor - Scott Stulberg

When Scott was ten years old, a whole new world opened up for him when his parents built a darkroom for him in the basement. Under the safelights, smelling chemicals and listening to music, he lost all track of time watching his images come to life. Although he’s been using Photoshop for many years, it was the countless hours in the darkroom that made him fall in love with photography.

Scott teaches digital photography and Photoshop at UCLA Extension in Los Angeles, Digital Workshops at camera stores and has run Macintosh Graphics User Groups for many years. He is a beta tester for all kinds of software for Photoshop, writes articles for digital imaging magazines and is constantly looking for new techniques to improve his photography and Photoshop skills.

Scott’s main focus is on stock photography and he is represented by Corbis and Superstock. Shooting stock has enabled him to explore new places all over the globe and venture out into the middle of nowhere looking for great photo opportunities.
“I have had many photography awards, magazine covers and photo exhibitions, which is always motivating and special but I have realized something that I think is more important, at least for me; I love to shoot. It’s not a job to me. It’s what I love. Whether it’s 2am in Bangkok in the suffocating humidity or paragliding 5,000 feet up in the air, I just love having the camera with me. And after all these years to still have that love for photography ... well, I think that is the most important thing in the world to me.”

BetterPhoto Instructor- Jim Zuckerman

“Few people are able to spend most of their time pursuing their passion in life. I'm one of them, and I feel blessed to have had a love affair with photography since I began taking pictures.” – Jim Zuckerman

In 1970, Jim decided to abort his intended career as a doctor in favor of photography and has never regretted it. His career has taken him to over 60 countries, and he has seen and photographed wondrous things.

Jim specializes in wildlife and nature, international travel, and digital effects. In addition, he also shoots photo- and electron microscopy, children, and other subjects. For 25 years, he shot a medium format camera, specifically the Mamiya RZ 67, for its superior quality. In 1999, Gregory Georges' twenty-five year obsession with photography finally took priority over his work in the software industry when he decided to undertake photography full-time and to work to achieve another life-long goal—to publish a book. His first book was to become the best-selling book for his publisher and it was also one of the first books to focus exclusively on digital cameras.

As the creator and founding author for John Wiley & Sons successful “50 Fast” book series, his second book, “50 Fast Digital Photo Techniques” quickly became an Amazon “Top 25” best seller. Later on, Digital Photography Top 100 Simplified Tips & Tricks was to become Wiley’s all-time-top-selling photography book, and 50 Fast Photoshop 7 Techniques was picked as #4 on Amazon’s Top Books of 2004 in the “Digital Life” category. His ten books have been translated into more than a dozen foreign languages.

He has written for, or has had photos published in, numerous magazines including: Shutterbug, eDigital Photo, Inside Lacrosse, Digital Output, and Digital Creative Arts. Greg is the founder and host of one of the largest and most popular Yahoo! Forums with over 4,500 members. He has also served on more than a dozen Beta teams for major software vendors such as Adobe. He graduated with a B.S. degree in business with honors, with majors in Marketing and Management from the University of Utah.

Currently, Gregory is working on a book of true stories about homeless people with toned black, white, and gray photos, and he has nearly completed a fine-art photography book featuring many amazing tropical waterlilies. He continues to take photographs at top sporting events and is refining his signature portrait style using long-focal length lenses outdoors with natural light. Additionally, he can capture and present an entire story in a Gregory Georges Signature PhotoStory Book. Gregory just concluded shooting the 2007 American Dance Festival in Durham, North Carolina. It was the 30th anniversary of the event being in Durham and next year will be the 75th anniversary of the American Dance Festival. His plan is to publish a 75th anniversary book following next year’s event.

Doug is a freelance, documentary, editorial and fine art photographer from Missoula, Montana. He attended the Rocky Mountain School of Photography’s, Summer Intensive Program ten years ago and began instructing photography workshops soon after graduating. Before his zealous pursuit of photographic art, he was an outdoor educator for almost twenty years, passionately teaching people new backcountry skills in orienteering, mountaineering, avalanche awareness and wilderness first aid.
His teaching philosophy is fun, visionary and full of creative persistence and he learns as much from every teaching experience, as his students learn from him. In Doug’s words, “Discovery, is finding something… I found photography and my discovery began. Ten years later, I’m still finding photography, everywhere I go. I’ve come to recognize, it is within the “finding”, not the “finding something”, that is true discovery”. Learn from this esteemed online instructor at BetterPhoto.com.
