Dr. William J. Netzer, Ph.D., is a Research Associate at the Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation, and Scientific Liaison to the Fisher Foundation, which provides online Alzheimer's information. Dr. Netzer's goal is to find a cure for Alzheimer's disease and talks about an anti-cancer drug, Gleevec, which lowers the buildup of beta-amyloid, the toxic substance produced in the brains of Alzheimer's patients. He is now trying to determine whether Gleevec or similar compounds will be useful in treating Alzheimer's. www.alzinfo.org

Lucy Barylak is the coordinator of the Caregiver Support Centre, Mental Health Program and Elder Abuse Team of the CLSC René-Cassin, Institute of Social Gerontology of Quebec in Montreal, Canada. Lucy co-edited "Responding Creatively to the Needs of Caregivers: A Resource for Health Care Professionals". She’s developed screening and assessment tools for family caregivers, funded by the Health Transition Fund of Health Canada, and provides training to health care professionals across North America.
